The atmosphere? Once inside its nice. Not too loud but certainly not quiet. The service seemed a bit "bothered". Maybe Tuesday is their second Monday. They were friendly but it seemed there was a tension in the air. The food isn't much to get your mouth wet about but it's still decent. The prices are good. The best part of the dinner was my beer. When we went to pay the individual behind the register appeared more interested in the electronic portable device than the job he/she was in charge of doing. On a side note the smokers hanging out just outside the door (because there is no inside smoking) were really loud and obnoxious. I am sure they had tilted a few bottles their way. No bother with that except for the outlandish behavior. Its a piss poor representation of customer preference.

Worse Mexican food I have ever had. Hamburger wrapped in tortillas. Blah! I think half the staff was stoned giggling in the corner.

Nice atmosphere and staff was friendly and attentive. Food was very bland and the fajitas had some kind of bbq sauce on them. Ive ate at alot of mexican restaurants and never had bbq sauce on my fajitas. On a good note the chips and salsa were great. I will probably give this place another chance in the future but I wont go out of my way to do so.

The ceviche was good. The carnitas were melt in your mouth. The shrimp tacos were devoured. Our waitress was very friendly and fast. If we return to PCB we'll come back.

Used to eat here quite often; went for lunch Friday...YIKES! Processed cheese in the enchiladas/tacos, salsa tasted awful (used to LOVE their salsa) and their refried beans tasted like they had been sitting in a pan on the stove all day! We were SO disappointed they changed the quality so drastically along with the remodel. We will never eat there again!!

Good Mexican food and good, fast service. Great guacamole too. The enchiladas were as good as anywhere. This place was pretty busy too and seems to have a strong local following. I'll be back when in PC again for sure.

Every time that I am in Panama City, I go to this place at least once. I always ask for the picante salsa. It has a roasted chili pepper flavor that is unmatched by any other salsa anywhere. I always like the dishes because they are always the same, so I know what to expect. I especially like the reasonable prices including the ala carte menu.

We came for dinner on a Sunday night in search of a decent margarita and good Mexican food and we were not disappointed. The waitstaff was extremely accomodating and friendly and the service was excellent. My husband ordered the hot and spicy burrito ($8.99) and said it was flavorful but not really that spicy. It was huge and meaty and he ate almost the entire thing, which means it couldn't have been bad. I ordered the fish tacos, not realizing that there are two types of fish tacos on the menu. I got the regular fish tacos, which were three flour tortillas filled with blackened fish and pico de gallo. What I wanted were the Baja fish tacos, which are three corn tortillas filled with fried fish, cabbage, and spicy tartar sauce. Once I realized my mistake, our waiter was so nice about it and immediately went to order me the correct tacos. He kept apologizing even though it was my fault for not ordering the right kind. Anyways, the tacos were delicious!!! The tartar sauce was really good, and just spicy enough, and fish was lightly battered and crispy. The margaritas were very good--they weren't too sweet, which makes us think they do not make it from a mix. The price was appropriate for the size and quality.

A decent, somewhat standard Tex-Mex restaurant. Los Rancheros has prompt service, good prices, and your normal array of good Tex-Mex cuisine. The lunch specials are very reasonable, and they have combination meals with plenty of choices. I've never done much drinking at this location, but there seems to be plenty of regulars who come back again and again for the drink specials. The enchiladas, fajitas, chile rellenos, and mole poblano are all good items I've ordered from this restaurant in the past. All considered, it is the best traditional Tex-Mex restaurant on this stretch of 23rd street, but since Pepper's has opened I vastly prefer it over Los Rancheros.

Great little place with good specials. We were visiting and looking for some Mexican food. This place fit the bill. If we come back to panama city we will eat here again.

I've noticed lately that we eat A LOT of Mexican food. Go figure... Los Rancheros is a decent Mexican joint, so long as you're not a big fan of Guacamole or Salsa Verde that has any flavor. The carnitas are excellent (effin! excellent according to my wife). The carne asada burritos are good too, and could be excellent if only they had some decent salsa verde to go on them. I'm disappointed that they don't offer horchata, jamaica or tamarindo to drink on the menu, just the usual sodas, domestic beers, margaritas and such.

The food here was not impressive. There are quite a few other choices for those who want Mexican in Panama City and I recommend any of those over this place. The sauces were off and the beans that came with our meals looked like they had been sitting all day (and tasted like it too). The only nice thing about it was that I got a beer for 1.50, but that is not a rarity in PC.

Salsa is very good. Got the seafood fajitas (shrimp, imitation crap, scallops, and local fish), never have seen all those on a fajita dish before, so I got the single order. IT WAS FANTASTIC. All of it tasted fresh, should really have 4 tortillas but I'm not complaining. Also have Dos XX Amber on draft, so it went great with my meal. I definitely will go back when back in the area.

Tables have food embedded under the glass which is kind of gross in my opinion but the salsa and chips are excellent. Ao you have to take the good with the bad I guess.

I've been eating at this place since I was a kid but my last visit, I was cursed out by the bartender over a baseball game. To make things worse, my husband went to pick up a to go order a few weeks later and was cursed out by the same guy! (Just to clarify, my husband was not even with me the first time!) We will not be going here anymore! Old Mexico it is!

I used to be a fan of "Los Ros." While the food wasn't fresh or fantastic, it's cheap, fast, and the salsa is good. We used to visit frequently but after a few bad visits, we will never return. The restaurant became dirty, staff became unfriendly, and all desire to be successful was tossed out the window.

The margaritas here are pretty dang good! But then again I don't believe a Mexican restaurant would be very successful without a good Margarita. You start off with free Chips and Salsa, the chips are perfect but the salsa here is missing an ingredient that gives it an authentic mexican flavor. Ive ate here a few times and haven't been let down yet!! The service is good so thats a huge plus. The decor inside is a little bland and outdated but I guess thats the least of my worries. Im a fan!

Our friend suggested this place and it did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and my fiancé order the Spicy Beef Burrito. The chicken in my chimichanga was grilled, had a great smoky flavor. The tortilla was fried but flaky on the inside. The spicy beef was great, had the perfect amount of heat. Great salsa, nice family friendly place. We ate at their location by the Marina and it was just as good, but the server was a little slow on delivering drinks and the check.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
